INTER-MILAN CAMPUS CAMBODIA 2008 from mik la vage on Vimeo.

HFCA had been in negotiations with Inter Milan FC since January 2006 . It had taken till September 2008 to secure agreement for them to send some of their youth team coaches to Cambodia but finally the time had come. HFCA were very proud to be the first organisation to bring coaches from Inter Milan to Cambodia.Never before has any major European club sent coaches to work in Cambodia. The interest from the local media was huge with representives of local paper and TV coming to watch the training sessions every day.Even BBC world news did a radio interview with the inter coaches. Check out the media stories at the bottom of this page.

Inter Milan FC are one of the biggest soccer clubs on the planet. They have won the Italian League for the last three years. The fact that they sent two of their coaches Gabriele Raspelli and Fabrizio Piccareta to Cambodia is great for the profile of the local game and the potential to draw worldwide attention to the poverty in Cambodia through their coming is huge.

HFCA’s aim were to run a soccer clinic for 60 children (aged 12 to 18) from disadvantaged backgrounds. HFCA offered 60 children from organisations that work with disadvantaged children top class coaching from world class coaches from Italy. Five of the Players  that attended the campus went to Melbourne to take part in the Homeless World Cup in Melbourne 2008.

The 60 children come from the following organisations

Happy School
CCH
Riverkids
ISF

The program ran from Monday the 10th of November through to Friday the 14th from 7am to 11am.From Monday to Thursday we ran coaching sessions for the 60 children and on the Friday Inter Milan offered a coaching workshop for 15 to 20 of local coaches. It took a huge effort from everyone involved to make sure everything ran according to plan but at the end of the week the children were very happy and tired. HFCA are very grateful to NISC (Northbridge International High School) and in particular NISC manager Laurie Karatau for his support during the week and for lettting HFCA use their fantastic facilities. We also want to thank the FCC's Anthony Alderson for all his support in the lead up to the week of coaching. Thanks to our assistant coaches Jimmy and Sam. Thanks to Riverkids Sophon, CCH Mech Sokha, Happy School Chi Phalla, ISF Kate Griffin for all their hard work. Funny Sonny was fantastic as our translator/fixer and kept our spirits high with his funny stories about Cambodia. Finally thanks to Iccy Harrington for his great logistical work.
